Yom Kippur: Wednesday, October 9, 2019 - FOOD SCIENCE CAMP
School is out, but our doors are open. For those who are not fasting, we offer a deep-dive into food science, our favorite subject! Turns out you can learn science and eat at the same time. Food science also turns up in art, games and cracking secret codes and we'll cover it all. Lab coat, optional!
When NYC public schools are closed we have you covered with all-day and week-long camps.
First up… the Jewish Holidays:
Rosh Hashanah 1: Monday, September 30, 2019 - CAKE CAMP
We want you to make your cake and eat it, too! When school is out, we’re open. For the first of two school days off for Rosh Hashanah we’re devoting the entire day to mastering all things cake-related: we’ll learn about the art and architecture of our favorite dessert; bake a buttermilk rainbow cake in our Dynamite or custom colors; make buttercream frosting and learn dozens of stunning decorating tricks, from making a smooth frosting to piping pretty rosettes and doing advanced sugarwork with rolled fondant and dripped icing. We’ll practice on cupcakes that we’ll eat for a snack and then design and decorate our dream cakes to bring home. A delicious and healthy lunch (not cake!) provided.
Rosh Hashanah 2: Tuesday, October 1, 2019 - PASTA CAMP
Tuesday, October 2 is the second Rosh Hashanah day off from school, so we're opening our doors again and teaching a workshop that's all about pasta, from homemade dough techniques to learning a handful of trattoria-quality sauces you can make at home.
After a morning of cooking, we’ll enjoy the fruits of our labor with a big salad for lunch, then we’ll head to the park for some outdoor time and picnic snacks.
