Martin Luther King Day of Service Camp
January 21, 2019
9am - 3pm
School’s out, but our kitchen is open to cook for a good cause! In honor of Martin Luther King Day of Service, we’re helping kids learn how food and cooking can be used for the betterment of their communities and to help the wider world — and they’ll pick up plenty of cooking skills along the way, from knife work to food pairings, baking to cupcake decorating.
We’ll start the day by making a delicious lunch that we’ll share with the residents of our local assisted living home, weaving in lessons about food waste and food justice.
In the afternoon we’ll bake some sweet treats for a pop-up bake sale of the kids’ designing that will be ongoing in our cafe, with all proceeds going to a charity selected by the kids.
Camp includes lunch and snacks.
