Our Fall 2019 After School Program Starts Monday September 9
We’re an afterschool cooking program where kids come home with dinner for the whole family.
Our Make & Take curriculum, developed by founders Dana Bowen (Editor at Food & Wine, Every Day with Rachael Ray, Saveur and more) and Sara Kate Gillingham (Founder TheKitchn.com, James Beard Award winning cookbook author) teaches fundamental culinary skills through the lens of home cooking. From paella and lasagna to curries and pork dumplings, kids aren’t just following recipes, they’re learning essential techniques that will empower them in the kitchen and encourage them to be intuitive, creative cooks. Students come home with a ready-to-eat dinner for three to five people each and every week. Meals are hearty and well-balanced.
”On the days when we’ve had Dynamite Shop meals, when we’ve had the opportunity, we all share dinner together and really enjoy the evening. Having a full dinner ready to go when we get home from work is fantastic, and having our child involved in preparing it is almost icing on the cake.”
For children who arrive early, there is a short period of quiet work time (with snack) after school before the lesson gets going at 4pm. Students are dismissed at 6pm.
Students receive a reusable insulated bag to transport their meal each week, and a personalized apron. Families also get special discount pricing on The Dynamite Shop’s weekend and evening workshops, space rentals and on purchases from our cafe.
** We are committed to full compliance with all students' dietary needs such as allergies, but we encourage "picky eaters" to try new foods. We run our kitchen with the same rules and regulations of a professional restaurant kitchen and ask parents to support us in asking their children to follow these rules.
